The Prom Dress!

I shot the first round of Mallorie’s senior portraits last fall.  That was before the purchase of her prom dress.  She really fell in love with it and wanted to capture a few senior pictures wearing her stunning dress.  Here are a few of my favorite shots from Mallorie’s second shoot:

Of course, all of Mallorie’s shots didn’t feature the dress.  We shot several of Mallorie simply being Mallorie, dressed as she would for going out with friends or coming to school.

Winter Engagement Shoot

We’ve had very little of what would be considered winter-type weather here in South Dakota.  We did manage to find one weekend where there was still a bit of snow remaining from the only real “shovel-able” snow we’ve had this season.  I spent the afternoon with a former student and her fiance.  Here are just a few shots from their engagement session:

Not only did we have snow, we had cold and bitter wind to contend with.  It was actually acting like winter.  Derek was a good sport, I’d been warned in advance that he was not the picture type of guy.  We had a few good laughs when reviewing proofs, as it was obvious when Derek became distracted during the afternoon.

I’m looking forward to their April 28, 2012 wedding.  It will be a reunion of sorts with many of their wedding party being former students and families that I’ve known for quite some time.

Emily

Shooting Emily presented a new set of challenges that I had not faced a great deal before we met for her session.  Here’s my problem, Emily is TALL!  I did Emily’s session with a fixed 50 mm lens, requiring me to back up to fit all of Emily in the frame.  There were occasions when Emily and I found ourselves laughing as I fell into a public restroom, or nearly stepped into traffic because I was backing up to get all of her lovely lankiness into the frame.  We had a fun day and had numerous adventures trekking around the Sioux Falls area.

All of Emily’s portraits can be viewed in her complete gallery here.

I’ve got a a sneak peek of an engagement shoot with a former students of mine coming up soon!

Mallorie

I was so thrilled when my good friend and colleague asked me  to shoot her daughter’s  senior portraits.  We picked a beautiful fall day where the sun was shining, it was not too windy and the colors of the leaves were simply perfect!  Choosing my favorite photos was a huge challenge!  This young lady just bubbles with fun, happiness and beauty!  It was truly an honor to capture this slice of her senior year.

Here’s a small sampling of Mallorie’s senior pictures.  To view the entire gallery, click here.

Stay tuned for more shots from senior sessions.
